Time Machine

by H.G. Wells

A personal Project

As a young reader, I was captivated by H.G. Wells' The Time Machine and it has held a special place in my heart ever since. Wells' masterful storytelling sparked a lifelong fascination with the concept of time.

Time is enigmatic, intriguing, and multifaceted. A concept that remains elusive and mysterious. Interestingly, slowing down and focusing on a project can often result in more time than attempting to rush through multiple tasks simultaneously.

Attempting to depict time visually is not an easy task, as it is a non-object that exists beyond our (or at least my) understanding. The challenge lies in conveying its "transparency" and the multitude of simultaneous events that occur at any given moment. “Film” or moving pictures have proven to be a suitable medium for representing time, as it allows for layering and the illusion of movement.

In my own artistic exploration of time, I utilized machinery and geometric shapes on semi-transparent parchment paper to convey the layering effect of different moments in time. The use of light and blur adds to the sense of slicing through various layers. For the font for the title and author, I chose the timeless Garamond font.

The conclusion for this project is that my fascination with the concept of time will continue to inspire me, and I look forward to exploring it further in my artistic pursuits.

I hope you enjoy this cover and first photography attempts for the background.
